Zapadnoye Gold ore deposit is located in Bodaybinsky area of Irkutsk region in 20 km from Kropotkin settlement. 

The deposit is an integral part of Sukholozhsky ore field and is flanked from its western side to Sukhoy Log, the biggest gold ore deposit in Russia. Zapadnoye mining and processing plant which belongs to Polyus Zoloto JSC, carries out deposit development. Zapadnoye mining and processing plant is the only Russian mining enterprise which acquired industrial technology of gold recovery.
